The selected proposals will act in the professional program. The proposal submission period will end on March 31.
The Mercat de Música Viva de Vic opens a call to select the artistic proposals that will make up the programming of its 37th edition, which will be held from September 17 to 20 in Vic. The deadline to send proposals will close on March 31.
The artistic direction of the Mercat will select approximately 60 proposals that will be part of the program, which will be structured in two lines:
- MMVV Pro Catalan Arts!, designed for professionals with the aim of promoting the hiring of premieres and new proposals. This will take place from Wednesday to Friday and will focus on the stages of L’Atlàntida, Els Dolors and Jazz Cava.
- MMVV Festival, designed for the public and with a more playful and festive spirit. This can be seen on the stages of the Plaza Mayor and Sucre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
OFF Mercat concerts will also be scheduled, from Thursday to Saturday in the Cathedral Square, on a stage that will host this joint programming with official MMVV programming. The programming of these concerts will be carried out through schools and entities such as Cases de la Música, Taller de Músics, ESMUC or Sona9.
In the selection of artistic proposals for the MMVV Pro Catalan Arts!, the artistic direction will prioritize the premieres of a new show, album or EP; the self-identity, artistic risk and trajectory of the artist or band; the strength of the management company; the sales potential, the economic and technical feasibility, and finally the explanation of the objectives of the project (programmers targeted, territorial scope, etc.) and the importance of passing through the MMVV to achieve them. Proposals of all musical styles and genres may be submitted, except classical music.
The MMVV as a dynamization engine
One more year, the Mercat de Música Viva de Vic wants to promote the hiring of premieres and new proposals, as well as energize the live music sector, publicize new talents and promote exchange between artists from Catalonia and the rest of the autonomous communities and of the world.
The event offers an attractive lineup of concerts for the general public, at popular prices and for all tastes. Management agencies and representatives of artists and bands who wish to propose projects can do so through the form on the MMVV website (link).
